. I still haven’t weighed myself other than that one time around two months ago so regarding measuring progress, I haven’t been, simply because I didn’t want to put any pressure on myself regarding leaning out because well, I was fine to begin with anyway. However, I can definitely feel a difference in my clothes so my body fat has definitely been decreasing and what I changed to get that to happen was not much at all . So what did I do? 1️⃣ Started tracking my lifts more consistently and restructured my training program to include a strength component 2️⃣ Added a 5 min (100cal) stairmaster finisher to each of my workouts. I know that doesn’t sound like much at all but this is more for a booty/quad/calf pump (and it does add 700 extra cals to my output each week) 3️⃣ Stopped my Thursday class and included a circuit based workout that I could measure progress regarding volume (increasing weights, sets or reps each week) . I didn’t decrease calories at all. In fact I’m still sitting at around 2000cals for 5 days and instead of having one refeed I’ve split it into two so that two days of the weekend are higher carbs and fats and I can be a lot more flexible . I’m so glad I stuck to my guns and didn’t reduce calories initially. Progress was slow to begin with but there are a lot of factors that can contribute to this like high stress and lack of sleep and for me they were definitely it! . I set out to build a better lower body and I am happy with what I achieved. I don’t have an end goal right now, I’m happy to continue training with increasing my volume over time and not reducing calories. Once the summer period is over I’ll look at increasing my cals a little but I’m not looking at going back into a bulk any time soon #progressneedstheprocess
This week's: UNDERSTANDING ENERGY INTAKE comparison 👉🏼 Chicken Sub VS Chicken Sub - SAME, SAME but SO different. Dining out requires the same caloric awareness as every day food choices as the slightest variations can change the entire energy intake of a meal. Sometimes you might be on the go, unprepared or just socialising - be conscious of your choices in these scenarios too. Some people select the food they eat based on a perception of healthy or unhealthy with little regard for caloric value. Eating well for overall health and fat loss is a two part system in that quality and quantity go hand in hand, the art of weight loss will always boil down to calories in vs calories out. If you want to lose weight you need to calorically be consuming less energy than expenditure. While some foods are indeed more nutrient dense 🍌🍏🥕🥑 than others 🍫🍦🍬🍩 in that they contain more micronutrients than an alternative of a similar caloric density THEY ALL HAVE CALORIES. If you're trying to lose weight it's necessary to be conscious of caloric intake given it is possible to over eat chicken and broccoli just as it is possible to over eat on pork ribs and chips. Be conscious and aware of the caloric and macronutrient value of food and when eating particular foods be aware of what you've had and what you're going to have for the rest of the day. There will always be lower calorie alternatives. Take the above example for instance, both look the same on the surface with a few flavour variations made according to preference; yet these variations have changed the caloric density significantly between each meal. It’s been good having a FULL week off work, having nowhere to be and getting sleep-ins! I’ve definitely been highly unproductive - but sometimes we need that to reset and start again. Keen to get some balance and routine back into my life next week.
Thursday morning spent watching home tours on YouTube because I am determined to make my room really nice in the lead up to 🎅🏻 Heading up to the gym in a bit to train some legs and the then going to chill for the day and try not to do any online shopping 🙃

Weeknight dinners should be easy and fast in my books. The less time I have to spend in the kitchen after work, the more time I have to spend quality time with the people I love, and wind down before it's time to hit the hay. Let them sweat. Add vegetable broth, rosemary, oregano, thyme, vegetable bullion, bay leaf and bring to a boil. I simmered for about an hour while I worked on another recipe. Bring back to a boil and pinch pieces of raw biscuit into soup. Once they all float to the top it’s ready to eat! You can also use a whole raw seasoned chicken and add water. Cook until meat falls off the bone. Strain all the chicken out of the broth, pull off the skin and bone and add back into the soup. Let come to a boil.
